Associate Director - Delivery Services

Manages all aspects of the Business Analyst, Business Systems Analysis and Business Process Analysis roles and provides leadership to the Delivery Services team within Corporate IT as it relates to the Application Delivery Process. This includes project management, ensuring that business requirements and business process are defined thoroughly and aligned with cost effective and timely implemented business and application solutions. This position will partner with the Senior Director and Senior Manager of Delivery Services to focus on resources, training, consultancy, operations and to build cross functional teams that develop the role of Business Analysis as a liaison between business stakeholders, vendors and Corporate IT.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Assist and support the Senior Director of Delivery Services to accelerate processes, define and measure performance metrics, without compromising quality
  • Work with cross-functional teams to elicit and document feedback about the BA role and service levels in order to align appropriate skill sets with the proper project, application or business process while collecting and measuring performance feedback, and incorporate into performance and hiring plans
  • Provide prioritization, task assignment and overall direction to the business analysts in areas of design, planning, and implementation of policies and guidelines for functional requirements gathering, documentation, user training and implementation
  • Develop and coach a team in advanced business documentation, designs and plans for implementing solutions within applications, such as JIRA, Confluence, Tello, SmartDraw, Pencil, MS Visio and other modelling, requirements and collaboration tools
  • Assist the business on process analysis and business process improvements, organizational change or strategy to meet business requirements
  • Provide business process and functional application support approaches to a team of global business analysis. Operational responsibility for leading a team of business analysts, as well as finding gaps in resource performance while putting into place corrective action and defining hiring plans.
  • Collaborate on the development and standardization of business analysis toolsets in order to support multiple domain area delivery methodologies
  • Collaborate on defining KPIs and reports that show the quality of requirements and traceability of performance related to the Software Development Life Cycle, as well as the Project Life Cycle and how this relates to BA team members overall performance
  • Coach and mentor BA team members with a goal of developing internal and external training plan that focus on core skill sets of the BA role and retaining talent at Parexel
  • Administer goal setting and performance appraisals for employees, recommend changes, development plans and continued learning opportunities to meet organizational goals
  • Develop and maintain strong cross functional relationships and cadence with Business Leaders, Product Owners, Product Managers, Project Managers, Business Stakeholders, End Users and Support
  • Work with the PMO and Project Managers in resource allocation for projects in flight and on the future roadmap
  • Build Communities of Practice that monitor and evolve service levels of the team while having an owned authority and responsibility for measurement of operations as it relates to:
    • Onboarding processes, mentorship and knowledge management
    • SOP and Template improvements
    • Identify and implement automation opportunities
    • Improve project deliverables and team member engagement
    • Define the role of the Business Analyst and evolve the role to become a mutually supportive role across the domains and areas of the business the roles support
    • Expand the role to a Business Systems Analyst, Business Process Analyst, Data Analyst and Functional Analyst based skill set


  • 7-10 years’ experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Functional Consultant or Project Manager
  • 3 – 5 years of leading teams in a management capacity that define systems requirements for business functions / processes as it relates to Financials, Order to Cash, Procurement to Pay, Projects, Data Information and Reporting, IT Support, Clinical, Quality and Sales/Marketing
  • Experience across all functional areas of development life cycle methodologies including requirements gathering, development, test, release, deploy, training, implementation and support
  • Facilitate a critical communications role by interacting with users (business domain), project team members and development personnel (technical domain) on issues, escalations and project blockers
  • Oversight of developing requirements and establish traceability to the business vision
  • Ensure the requirements are specified in a manner suitable for the intended audience and are understandable, unambiguous and capable of being implemented and tested
  • Ability to provide oversight and feedback on requirements throughout the project lifecycle by establishing and maintaining agreements between the customer and the project team
  • Proficient with technical documentation, including business requirements, functional specifications, support documentation, user guides, workflow processes and test cases
  • Experience of working face to face and remotely with various stakeholders including: customers from IT, the Business and Vendors
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to all levels
  • Proficient requirements meeting facilitator, including demonstrated experience in facilitating sessions using techniques to help define scope and requirements during the lifecycle
  • Experience with SDLC and at least one or two project management methodologies such as Agile or Waterfall
  • Experience in any Agile Project Management tool such as JIRA
  • Working knowledge of ITIL standards and best-practices
  • Prior experience in a large IT organization within the Pharma, Clinical or medical device area preferred
  • MS Office – PowerPoint, Excel, MS Project or similar and Visio
  • BS/MS/MBA or equivalent work experience
