Scrum Master/Technical Delivery Manager

Job Purpose:
As a Scrum Master/Technical Delivery Manager you will manage the technical aspects of one or more projects, typically to deliver a specific product or transformation via a multi-disciplinary globally dispersed team. You’ll be adept at managing the delivery of technical components for complex projects, breaking down barriers for your team, high level planning and getting into the detail to make things happen when needed. You will also have the skills to assure the quality of the technical deliverables and motivate the team to take pride in delivering quality outputs.

Defining project needs and feeding these into the programme/portfolio process will enable resource to be appropriately allocated. You will be core to decisions that build high performing teams, where people are excited about the work they are undertaking

Key Accountabilities:
  • Taking responsibility for managing the delivery of technical solutions to cost, time and quality – whether that be traditional waterfall IT project managed solutions or agile delivering using more modern methods
  • Deciding on the most optimal delivery method for any given project.
  • Lead the collaborative, dynamic planning process - prioritising the work that needs to be done against the capacity and capability of the team
  • Matrix-managing a multidisciplinary team
  • Ensure all products are built to an appropriate level of quality for the stage (alpha/beta/production)
  • Ensure continuous improvement via the actioning of detailed retrospective review plans
  • Day to day task management across the technical delivery team.

Qualifications

Skills:
  • Project management experience with a successful history of delivering small/medium scale IT projects (£10K - £100k) to timescale & budget in waterfall or agile environments
  • An ability to work with ambiguity and within a complex environment, managing/influencing a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels
  • Excellent stakeholder & 3rd Party Vendor management experience
  • You are operationally aware with an understanding of the end to end process for delivering high value projects in one or more of the following key areas Pharmaceutical, Technology or IT.

Knowledge and Experience:
  • Demonstrable experience over a sustained period in managing technical projects
  • Scrum Master Certification highly desirable
  • Knowledge of project methodologies with formal Project Management training in one / many of the following:
    • PRINCE2 / MSP
    • PMP
    • SCRUM
    • Disciplined Agile Delivery (DAD)
    • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
  • Managed a team of at least 3 either direct or matrixed reports
  • You are operationally aware with an understanding of the end to end process for delivering high value projects in one or more of the following key areas Pharmaceutical, Technology or IT.
Education:
  • Degree or higher degree in Project Management, Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline.
  • Or equivalent work experience with demonstrable results.
