Data Governance Analyst

Job ID 70733BR USA - Any Region - Home Based
The Data Governance Analyst is responsible to collect, normalize, develop and implement enterprise wide definitions and standards for critical data assets within Parexel. This role is responsible for identifying what is operationally and technically required for measurement and resolution of data governance related issues.

Key Accountabilities:
Critical Data Element (CDE) Management
  • Enrich metadata within Alation Data Catalog (Data Catalog)
  • Work with Domain Data Leads and Domain Data Stewards to upload and maintain CDE’s, data definitions, standards and metadata in the data catalog
  • Generate periodic dashboards and metrics around CDEs being added, modified and publish to relevant business stakeholders
Data Quality Management
  • Support root-cause analysis for data quality issues process
  • Assist Domain Data Stewards in monitoring data quality trends and recommend appropriate data remediation plan
Stakeholder Relationships
  • Partner with Data Governance Leads to support data projects as part of the Project Lifecycle process
  • Collaborate with members of the Domain Data Leads and operations teams to understand business requirements, trends and expectations for analysis
  • Partner with the business domains, quality organization, Corporate IT and System owners to identify and document business rules
  • Work with Domain Data Stewards to identify systemic data quality issues (e.g., issues that are common across Functions) and coordinate remediation/resolution; propose any data quality issues for escalation
Business Rules and Training
  • Participate in workshops to define, capture and document business rules
  • Work with Data Analysts and Technical Data Stewards to help maintain central repository of business rules for enterprise wide consumption and usage
  • Work with HR Business Partners and Training department to onboard Domain Data Steward roles

Qualifications

Skills:
  • Effective understanding and appreciation of Data Governance and Data Quality related concepts
  • Excellent problem-solving, written communication, collaboration, team leadership, and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot, resolve issues, and collaborate on cross-domain issues
  • Familiarity with the underlying source systems including Salesforce, Planisware, Oracle Financials, etc. is a plus

Knowledge and Experience:
  • Experience with data cataloging tool (Alation) and disparate systems environments is required
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills, with ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of responsibility and authority
  • Adequate experience / exposure to Data Management and Enterprise Information Management
  • Familiarity with Data Quality Management (DQM) and Data Quality Deviation management processes are a plus
  • Previous experience in pharma and/or life sciences relating to the underlying domain is a plus
Education:
  • Bachelor’s in computer science or a relevant field is preferable.
