Read on and get to know Juliane and her role a little more!
What is your Parexel story?
My Parexel story began in 2015 when I joined the company. I initially started in Medical Imaging and gradually worked my way up to become a Senior Imaging Assistant. In 2020, I transitioned to the Berlin EPCU as a Clinical Assistant. My responsibilities expanded to working in the volunteers' kitchen and managing volunteer payments. I also serve as a point of contact, where it is essential for me to maintain knowledge of all ongoing studies and facilitate clear and effective communication among volunteers, nurses, doctors, laboratory workers, and recruitment staff.
What motivates you to work With Heart™ every day?
Being aware that my “little” job can make a big difference one day for a patient. Knowing that our daily work might affect me or my loved ones’ future motivates me every day to give my best and keep smiling.
Reflecting on your work at Parexel, what are you most proud of and why?
I’m fully aware that I work for one of the world’s largest, most successful and well-respected CROs — that’s what makes me proud every day. I try to carry that pride in my day-to-day interactions with those volunteering to participate in a clinical trial.
What is one way you always keep “Patients First?”
I’m always respectful towards our clinical trial volunteers, since they are the ones making the first steps to get a beneficial new drug on the market, one that might help improve patients’ health or maybe even result in a cure for good. This thought — them having more happy times, more family events they can enjoy at the fullest — that’s what motivates me.
Parexel was recently named “Best CRO.” What do you think makes us the Best CRO?
I think what makes us the best CRO comes from within. When individual departments work so well, it gives the customer a positive impression. I can only talk about EPCU Berlin, but communication and cooperation work very well for us — especially in difficult times — which we really owe to our great and always supportive management team.
QUICK HITS ABOUT JULIE
Favorite vacation spot?
The beach! I love to feel the sand under my toes. But more often, you´ll find me in the Atlanta, Georgia, area, where I have my second family.
Early Bird or Night Owl?
I’m a Night Owl. However, I must be an Early Bird because I start my job at 6 a.m. — and have to get up at 4:15 a.m. because I need time to get ready and get going.
Favorite Book or Movie?
I love the Game of Thrones books by George R.R. Martin. And yes, I’m still waiting for the last one. Another great book I like reading once a year is “To Kill a Mockingbird.”
What is one item on your Bucket List you haven't accomplished?
Learning another language — maybe Spanish or Italian.
Coffee or tea?
Both, and lots of it!
Would you rather cook your own meals or eat from a restaurant?
I cook for myself most of the time. I love to go out for food when I’m with my friends and just kick back and have a great time.
What is your favorite meal?
Everything chicken (deep fried southern chicken… so good!) But I also never say no to a medium rare ribeye and a baked potato.
