We are looking for a Scientist III - Open Access Instrumentation Support to work as a full-time employee of Parexel FSP on long-term assignment onsite at one of our clients located in Boston, MA.  This position offers full benefits, sick time, 401K, paid holidays, and paid time off.  This role does not offer sponsorship.

Description

The Scientist III – Open Access Instrumentation Support is a laboratory-based role that maintains and operates open access liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) instrumentation, maintains nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) instrumentation, and performs other tasks as assigned by the client.

Responsibilities

  • Checks instrument performance daily, and performs routine upkeep of open access LC-MS instruments

  • Responds to end-user repair calls for LC-MS instrumentation and troubleshoots/repairs simple issues such as leaks or clogs

  • Submits and coordinates repair tickets for more complex issues

  • Coordinates cryogen orders, and performs weekly liquid nitrogen fills for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) instruments

  • Performs daily sample clean up on the open access NMR systems

  • Cleans electrospray ionization (ESI) process source and runs standards monthly

  • Assists with preparation of samples and set up of data acquisition for analysis by liquid chromatography (LC), by LC-MS, and Circular Dichroism Spectroscopy (CD)

  • Documents LC-MS performance and uptime

  • Assists with purity analysis of investigational compounds by LC

  • Maintains accurate documentation and records

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with at least 3-5 years of experience or a Master’s degree in a relevant field with at least 1-2 years of experience

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience in high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and hands-on knowledge in LC-MS are required with an interest in expanding knowledge/background in LC-MS method development and optimization, data analysis, and sample preparation techniques

  • Experience with preparation of mobile phases for LC-MS instruments

  • Effective organizational, multi-tasking, and oral/written communications skills as the environment is fast-paced and results-oriented

  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills
