Meet Jagannadharao (Jagan) Nanduru:  Director, India Assistant Compliance Officer

"Doing business with integrity is paramount, and ultimately preserves Parexel’s culture of integrity.   If you have a concern about unethical, illegal, or improper activities - don't keep it to yourself."

Jagannadharao Nanduru, Director, India Assistant Compliance Officer, within the Compliance and Ethics team, tells us how his career development has been supported at Parexel. Jagan discusses the challenges of his role, with regards to constantly evolving and changing regulations and laws.  He also takes great pleasure in talking about his colleagues and the supportive work environment.

  • Please introduce yourself and your role at Parexel.
Hi, my name is Jagannadharao Nanduru, and I’m Director, India Assistant Compliance Officer. I have been working with Parexel for more than 8 years overseeing Global Transparency Reporting, Compliance Due Diligence, Compliance Training, and assisting in Global Compliance Operations and Internal Investigations.

  • When did you join Parexel, and why did you choose Parexel above our competitors?
I joined Parexel in April 2014, and I was motivated to do so due to its 'employee-friendly' environment. I felt great pride in joining and being part of a company that helps develop therapies, treats patients, and cures diseases, a company that truly puts the patient first.

  • What traits and skills are needed to be successful in your role?
This role demands one to have more than adequate legal and compliance knowledge along with a strong understanding of data and workflow processes, as well as an operational understanding of Parexel’s systems and processes. It is essential to have good people management skills and an ability to work across business units, as it is important to have a broad knowledge of systems and roles in other departments. It is important to be able to 'connect a lot of dots.'

The roles I undertook in my earlier career like team management, technical, functional, and finance roles have all helped me in my role at Parexel, especially when driving projects and building processes while leading a highly motivated team. With experience comes the confidence to manage complex situations effectively.

  • What would you like people to know about your job or department?
Doing business with integrity is paramount, and ultimately preserves Parexel’s culture of integrity. If you have a concern about unethical, illegal, or improper activities - don't keep it to yourself. Discuss it with your manager, Human Resources, or Compliance. All reports are handled confidentially.

If you prefer to remain anonymous, report it through our Ethics Hotline

Have a question on Transparency Reporting, CDD, or Compliance Matters? Feel free to contact me.

  • What is it about the position that challenges you most?
The ever-changing and evolving laws, regulations, guidelines, and sanctions never fail to throw new challenges. Recent extensive sanctions against certain countries have proved a very large challenge!

  • How would you describe what it’s like to work at Parexel?
There is nothing better or more fulfilling than making your livelihood and building your career by contributing to a greater cause of developing therapies and treating patients.

  • What excites you most about the work you do?
The variety, it is never boring!

But the Parexel people are very important to me, too.  I have a fantastic team working for me – there is a great culture of supporting each other, such as helping out their friends when they or their family are in trouble; they go the extra mile for their colleagues. When one colleague was in hospital, members of my team went and supported by donating blood.  There really is a strong unified team spirit and truly they do things #WithHeart. We also celebrate the good times – especially at birthdays!

  • How has Parexel supported your career development?
Parexel has always given me opportunities to improve myself. I was mentored and trained for new roles and their additional responsibilities in advance, so that I could be best prepared to succeed in my career.

  • Tell me something most people don’t know about you.
I might look serious but, trust me I have a great sense of humor.

  • What do you enjoy when you’re not at work?
I really enjoy hanging out with family, visiting new and exciting places, clubbing, and reading books.

  • What is your untrainable superpower?
My elephant memory in remembering and recollecting past things!
