About This Role

The Patient Engagement Manager will assist the Clinical Trial Diversity & Patient Engagement Team in identifying and creating opportunities and resources to support patient engagement efforts within Clinical Development. The PE Manager will work in a cross functional team environment to facilitate effective development and implementation of patient engagement plans in support of projects across Clinical Development as well as helping to drive the early implementation of activities that will feed into an end-to-end Patient Engagement Framework for research projects.

Job Responsibilities:

·                Assist with developing, preparing, planning and execution of Patient Engagement activities

·                Identify opportunities and execute initiatives to enhance Patient Centricity and build a patient-centric culture across OARS and Clinical Development & Operations

·                Maintain and update Patient Engagement project management platforms to enable effective, timely and compliant PE across CD&O, as needed

·                Track Patient Advocacy Group funding and engagements to ensure regular and timely communications, timely membership renewals, tracking of upcoming collaborations/events/activities as well as ensuring timely accomplishment of deliverables.

·                Develop and manage new Patient Engagement Newsletter

·                Assist in identifying opportunities to establish trusted relationships in diverse and underrepresented patient communities to pave the way for enhanced engagement of diverse patient populations to advance scientific and clinical development programs and improve health equity.

·                Assisting with project management support for priority projects (eg: Framework project, Project 707)

·                Manage Insight Committee including but not limited to the contracting, facilitation and onboarding of new InSight  Committee members

·                Support CTD & PE Ways of working (eg: reorganize CTD&PE Teams channel to improve accessibility and collaboration, Improve SharePoint layout and content to improve usability and awareness of team’s capabilities (in progress)

·                Updating PAL activity tracker

·                Supporting, leading and/or managing other key activities in support of the Clinical Trial Development & Patient Engagement Team, where needed

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

Education

•                Bachelor’s or other advanced degree

Experience

•                2+ years professional experience

•                Some patient advocacy group experience, either in industry or in patient advocacy organization

Skills

•                Demonstrated ability to develop meaningful relationships and use the ‘soft skills’ needed to connect well with patient advocacy groups; ability to express passion and empathy for families in need.

•                Demonstrated understanding of scientific/mechanistic aspects of drug development as well as strategic, regulatory or commercial aspects related specifically to clinical trials

•                Demonstrated ability to partner well across multi-disciplinary teams to develop critical insights and strategies and facilitate decision making.

•                Able to work with (understand needs and concerns of) R&D leaders, commercial divisions, senior management, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to balance conflicting priorities among these diverse parts of the organization, and line them up behind the most appropriate development and/or lifecycle plan for medicines

•                Confidence and organizational skills to independently work on multiple tasks, and effectively prioritize to meet personal and team goals

•                Able to anticipate issues related to the delivery of project goals and manage risks

•                Skilled at establishing clear directions; sets objectives; distributes the workload appropriately; brings out the best in people

•                Able to work across many interfaces within a complex matrix organization, and to help others to do so

•                Excellent written and verbal communication skills; inclusive of being able to present complex and technical ideas and concepts both verbally and written to multiple stakeholders

•                Collaborative problem solving (handles conflict constructively)

•                Strategic thinking

•                Creativity and/or ability to put innovative approaches into practice in clinical development
