About this Role

The Site Payment Lead (formerly known as Inspector) is a role dedicated to validating the invoicing of sites participating in clinical studies. They are assigned to a study and provide support to the various sites conducting it. Upon receiving an invoice, they check that the billed items are within the framework of the contract or potential amendments. If there are any discrepancies, they verify with the site and make corrections accordingly.

Other participants in the process include Clinical Research Associates (CRAs) who check the activities of the sites. The CRA and the site complete the IDC (the system that collects site information). Once the information is verified, it is sent to Accounts Payable (AP) to complete the cycle and ensure timely payment.

The Site Payment Lead interacts with Project Leads (PLs) and CRAs, the sites, and occasionally participates in meetings with the sponsor to provide support - for example, addressing issues with unpaid invoices. There are substantial differences in invoicing processes by country (for example, taxes). Also, for some countries, invoicing is done first, sent to the site, and then they corroborate and re-invoice.

The qualities required for this role include:

  • Excellent English skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • High level of service orientation
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent organizational abilities

The seniority level depends on the number of sites and the complexity of studies managed.

The platforms used in this role include:

  • Salesforce
  • IDC
  • Veeva Vault
  • Oracle
  • Insite
