About this Role

The Real-World Data (RWD) Intern will support the Scientific Data Strategy team's work, assisting in the identification, assessment, and management of real-world data sources to provide data support for clinical research.

This role may work as contractor (4-5 days a week for 4-5 months)

This role may require travelling to sties in Korea if needed (not a monitoring role, but to meet with site staffs when needed)

Educational Requirements

  • Master's or PhD student (currently enrolled) in fields including but not limited to:

  • Clinical Research-related fields

  • Epidemiology

  • Public Health

  • Pharmaceutical Sciences

Core Responsibilities

1. Data Source Identification and Assessment

  • Assist in recognizing gaps in Parexel's real-world data coverage

  • Support identification and assessment of RWD sources across relevant regions

  • Help maintain and update the RWD sources catalog

2. Data Knowledge Management

  • Learn and understand existing real-world scientific datasets

  • Maintain and update knowledge of regulations on access to secondary data in relevant regions

  • Assist in developing descriptive content for capability presentations, proposals, etc.

3. Partnership Support

  • Assist in building relationships with RWD partners

  • Support decision-making on strategic partnerships

  • Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., Data Solutions Architects) to match project needs with data assets

Skills Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Understanding of foundational data science principles, techniques, and methodologies

  • Familiarity with common data science tools

  • Basic knowledge of the clinical research process

  • Understanding of medicines and medical device development

  • Knowledge of real-world data applications in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry

Soft Skills

  • Well organized with excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently while being a team player

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities

  • Proactive desire to learn from experienced team members

  • Ability to adapt in the quickly evolving RWD business environment

Language Requirements

  • Fluency in English (verbal and written) is mandatory

  • Knowledge of additional languages is a merit

Additional Requirements

  • Ensure compliance with operating standards, policies, regulations, SOPs, privacy and data security standards

  • Attend team meetings on a regular basis to ensure team objectives are met

  • Communicate status of assigned work promptly, including significant changes
