About this Role

Parexel Early Phase Clinical Unit supports the development of innovative new medicines which are vital for public health, improving outcomes, and saving lives. The early phase and “first in human” trials are the first step in testing these novel treatments in humans.

At Parexel Glendale, CA unit our highly trained and skilled Clinical Research Pharmacists are crucial to ensuring the successful completion of Phase I trials.

What you’ll do after training is completed (including but not limited):

  • Manage pharmacy related processes and medication handling according to applicable legislation, guidelines, and SOP’s.
  • Prep investigational product according to guidelines
  • Ensure randomization and prep doses correctly
  • Track drug inventory and orders drug supply from Sponsor.
  • Directly dispense study medication as necessary.
  • Review all concomitant medications brought in by study participants.
  • Ensure proper blinding/randomization of study medication.
  • Supervise preparation of labels and drug accountability forms.
  • Ensure proper drug storage, drug accountability and record keeping (e.g., temperature logs, etc.) as well as proper transportation between facilities.
  • Meet with the CRCs prior to study initiation to review study medication pharmacology, key issues and plans for monitoring identified parameters.
  • Performs Quality Assurance (QA) functions and signs off on study Flow Sheets when required.
  • Serves as a resource for study protocol clarification and interpretation.
  • Maintain and update knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCPs) and their proper application.
  • Reinforce the use of GCPs as they apply departmentally through example and staff training.

Your Profile: 

  • Active CA Pharmacist License (required)
  • Pharmacy experience in a clinical research or hospital setting preferred
  • Expert knowledge of accepted pharmacy principles, practices and procedures including sterile and non-sterile compounding (highly preferred)
  • Education: BA or BS and PharmD or RPH

Shifts: after training is completed, we are looking for someone that can work 8-hour day shifts as well as weekends. Weekend shifts are every other or every third weekend. Afternoons/evenings may be required but is extremely rare.
Training schedule: first 4-6 weeks is training, and you will work 30-40 hours per week during that time. (typically shifts are 8:00am to 4:30pm)
Minimum work requirements (after training is completed): 20 hours of availability per week (including 1 weekend shift) - please note this is not a full-time role.

Base Pay Range: $65.00 per hour

Actual salaries may vary within the range based on several factors including, but not limited to education, training, experience, professional achievement, and location.
